Extra Pale Ale
Tonight’s beer: Extra Pale Ale
Ingredients: see Northern Brewer Extra Pale Ale Kit
This is the beer we intended to brew last week but arrived late due to the holidays. Fortunately, We had DJ’s backup for last week.
The recipe is as easy as it gets yet we somehow forgot one of the key ingredients. The boiling hops did not get added until the finishing hops for the last minute. As I added the finishing hops I glanced over and saw the open but full boiling hops bag sitting on the burn barrel lid.
General evening notes:
Other than the hops mishap, it was the smoothest operation of the year. Everyone did a job and it was all fast easy and fun.
We also received some new specialty equipment including a manifold that allows us to have 3 kegs being carbonated off of one CO2 bottle and the coupler and gauges so we can have a fourth keg under lower pressure for dispensing. Jason put it together and it is a sweet setup.
DJ found 3 more kegs which saved us since we have one keg lid funked enough it is not usable. So the keg lid from the one matching design kept us going once again.
After Mark fixed the kegerator last weekend, the beer is about 5 degrees cooler than before the failure - a beautiful bonus and it’s running flawlessly.
Upcoming Events:
The tree burn was the biggest ever with 158 trees and a LOT of people at the party. This weekend is the Sand Dunes Cleanup and we plan on taking out a keg of homebrew to enjoy after the event.
