J’ale (the season ends)
This week was our tradional end of the season brew “J’ale”. It’s a mystery beer we make once a year with no set recipie. The goal is to use up as many left over ingredients as possible to create a special never to be duplicated beer which will be enjoyed at the begining of next season.
Due to the rising summer temps our brewing is forced to take a hiatus in the summer. But this year we’ll be changing that just a little. A temp controller will be added to a spare fridge at Chuck/DJ/J’s house and we’ll be attempting a few lagers over the summer. Hey they’ve got a pool so we can stay cool while brewing and the fridge can keep the fermentation cool so it should work out well!
The J’ale had a list of grains too long to remember even if I wanted to. Not a lot of anything in particular but a lot of everything overall. 6lbs of pale extract and 3lbs of honey made up the fermentables, and three varieties of hops were added to round things out. A little london ale yeast will fermet it all.
